Yorba Linda City Council Meeting

On April 5 Colonel James Lively, current 11th MEU Commander, and Linda Queen, current president of the Yorba Linda 11th MEU Adoption Committee, attended the City Council meeting to thank the residents of Yorba Linda for their continued support, and to encourage more to join the adoption committee.

Month of the Military Child

April has been designated as the official Month of the Military Child by the DoD since 1986.

It has been reported that military children can move six to nine times during their K-12 years. This means leaving friends and friendly surroundings more frequently than other children.  Also, the anticipation and anxiety of having family members transferred or deployed into harm's way can weigh heavily on a young life.

In April, the Yorba Linda-11th MEU Adoption Committee takes special pride in recognizing and celebrating the sacrifices, courage, and resilience of military dependent children during the Month of the Military Child.

Month Of The Military Child

April has been designated the “Month of the Military Child” by the Department of Defense since 1986.

It has been reported that military children can move to a new home and a new school six to nine times during their K-12 years.  This means leaving friends and friendly surroundings much more frequently than other children.

This, coupled with the stress and anxiety associated with a family member’s deployment or transfer, can take a toll on military dependent children.

In April, the Yorba Linda-11th MEU Adoption Committee takes special pride in acknowledging the courage, the sacrifices, and the resilience required of military kids.
